At their recent 50th anniversary reunion, the alumni of the class of 1962 have generously purchased two platinum level seats through the Take a Seat campaign. Proceeds from this program are earmarked for the Performing Arts Center (PAC) at Central High. Most recently funded were a composer in residence experience with Brian Balmages, and the purchase of wireless headset for use in the PAC.

Representatives from the 1962 class reunion committee presented their check to the Foundation Wednesday, February 6th. They good-naturedly shared some changes they’ve noticed at the school and around their neighborhoods since they were students! And showing their Bulldog spirit is alive and well, they playfully challenge the following 50th anniversary reunion class (1963) to match their generosity!

Launched by a Stony Brook family as a memorial to a loved one, the Hopewell Valley Education Foundation supplemented funding to make possible bringing fused glass artist, Jessica Gorlin Liddell to the school to work with fourth graders. Together, they created two fused glass windows to be a permanent installation at the school’s entrance. The students learned to nip colored glass and arrange the pieces on a clear glass tile to create designs that got combined to make the larger window. Approximately 95 students participated and helped create this new entrance to their school!
