Grants in Action: Recyclable Art
Bear Tavern art teacher Josyln Johnson’s students create art from recycled materials, working with artist Katie Truk, as part of a program that teaches students to think creatively about how to make “green art” and help the environment. Ms. Truk creates abstract sculpturesĀ using circular wire frames and nylon panythose as a medium in this inventive way, and Ms. Johnson’s students eagerly followed in her footsteps. The program culminated with a public “show” of the student’s sculptures.
